Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor | Clinical Supervisor | Trauma & DID Specialist | Speaker & Consultant

Kelly Caniglia is a somatically focused Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida. She is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and an approved Clinical Supervisor in both states. Ms. Caniglia is nationally recognized for her specialization in complex trauma and Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), as well as her advocacy on behalf of the plural community.

Ms. Caniglia’s work with the DID community began in 2012 during her clinical internship with An Infinite Mind, an international nonprofit dedicated to education and advocacy for individuals living with DID. Her dedication to this population has spanned more than a decade, during which she has served as Intern Coordinator, Board Member, and currently as the organization’s Director of Marketing and Events.

As a speaker, trainer, and consultant, Ms. Caniglia is known for delivering clear, evidence-informed, and compassionate education on trauma, dissociation, and clinical best practices. She frequently presents at national conferences, provides workshops and continuing education for mental health professionals, and participates in media and public forums to address myths and misinformation about DID. Her teaching emphasizes accessibility, clinical competence, and the ethical responsibility to offer informed, respectful care to individuals with dissociative disorders.

Clinically, Ms. Caniglia provides individual therapy for adults through two DID-focused group practices in North Carolina. While her primary focus is trauma and dissociation, she also works extensively with anxiety and mood disorders, ADHD, relationship and identity concerns, and LGBTQ+ clients. Her therapeutic approach integrates Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, Somatic Experiencing, DBT, EMDR, and Brainspotting, always grounded in a strengths-based and empowerment-oriented framework.

In addition to her practice and nonprofit leadership, Ms. Caniglia continues to be committed to influencing mental health training standards and improving the broader clinical community’s understanding of complex trauma and DID.

Ms. Caniglia earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Central Florida and her Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Rollins College.

Outside of her professional work, she is an avid outdoors enthusiast and a multidisciplinary artist, active in both visual and performing arts.
